Scientific Description
The zip-lock bag used in this experiment is made of long-chain polymer, similar to balloons and rubber. These long-chain polymers have a character of elasticity. When the pencil pierces the zip-lock bag, due to the elasticity of the zip-lock bag and the water pressure upon the zip-lock bag, the long-chain polymer around the hole made by pencil can still closely surround the pencil without a gap so that the water will not leak out.Extensions
